THE inventor of the award-winning Bovine Wash-out Rod, Dunmanway farmer Daniel Power, is delighted to be part of the Eurogene AI Services West Cork team, which is hosting an information meeting at the Parkway Hotel in his hometown on Wednesday next, January 18th, starting at 8pm.

Part of a nationwide series of such breeding information meetings, it features two other experts in the field, Jan Anderson, a sire analyst from Viking Genetics, Denmark, whose talk is entitled ‘Successful data recording maximises genetic gain,’ and fertility expert Jimmy Quinn, MRVCS, of Genexel Irl Ltd, who will address the fertility challenges facing larger herds.

There will be an update on the Eurogene-LIC 2017 product range and a prize draw for free straws. Light refreshments will be provided after the meeting.

Daniel Power has over seven years’ experience working with the reproductive tract, breeding and fertility side of cows. In coming up with his Bovine Wash-out Rod, Daniel identified a problem with the current off-the-shelf product, a plastic-type rod.

These products have not been robust enough to navigate through the cervix and this causes the solution to be misplaced in the cervix or in some cases dumped before reaching the cervix. This is a waste of time and money and, as a consequence, the cows will not have been treated adequately.

The alternative wash-out rod he has developed is manufactured in Dunmanway, using the highest grade of stainless steel. Not only can it be easily manoeuvred into perfect placement in the body of the uterus, but its unique tip design is blanked off with two parallel holes, so the solution is evenly dropped between both uterus horns.

Industry experts reckon this rod is up to 98% more effective than other products currently on the market. The multi-nozzle design head fits all current market wash-out solutions.

The Bovine Wash-out Rod is now available through Eurogene AI services on 052-7442940 or log on to www.eurogeneaiservices.com
