ANOTHER jewel in the culinary crown of West Cork is getting ready for the new season with their first McKenna Award.

Conor Sheridan and his team at the Glandore Bistro are delighted with news that their hard work and dedication to local food has been recognised with a prestigious McKenna Award. ‘This is our first McKenna Award and is testament not only to the food and service here at the restaurant but also to the incredible local seafood we are so lucky to have available to us.’

‘This is our third year here in Glandore and once again we are really looking forward to opening again this weekend, on Saturday March 10th,’ he added.

Conor says that with Union Hall just down the road they can pride themselves on access to some of West Cork’s best and freshest seafood.

Chef Conor and his wife Christine, who looks after front of house, moved to Glandore back in 2015 having searched far and wide for a location to set up
their new restaurant.

‘I’m from Tipperary and after 30 years working in the catering sector I wanted to set up on my own,’ Conor said. ‘Glandore has everything we hoped for.’

Conor says the community spirit is alive and well in the pretty coastal village. ‘We have a great community here, the people, the location and, of course, the environment,’ he said.

‘We’re also blessed with the incredible local produce that we have available to us and are delighted and very proud to have received our first McKenna Award.’

While this is the Bistro’s first McKenna Award, the restaurant has also been mentioned in the prestigious Michelin Book, a guide to European restaurants, as a ‘must’, when looking for a place to eat in West Cork.
