Jim O’Toole has been named as the new chief executive of fisheries board BIM.

JIM O’Toole has been named as the new chief executive of fisheries board BIM.

He takes over the position from West Cork woman Tara McCarthy who last year was named the new chief executive of food board Bord Bia.

Mr O’Toole, who was appointed by the board of BIM, brings to the position a wealth of experience in global food marketing, sustainability development and change leadership.

 He previously held the position of director of meat & livestock and sustainability development in Bord Bia, where he led a team of senior executives in the development of Bord Bia’s Origin Green initiative. 

Previous to this, he was responsible for the implementation of the agency’s quality assurance schemes and gained valuable experience in the marketplace working with Bord Bia in London, Milan and Paris.

Mr O’Toole holds a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Science from University College Dublin. He has completed a number of professional development programmes at Ashridge Business School, Cranfield University and the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business.
