Ballingeary programme for women with ideas for business

A COMMUNITY group – Comharchumann Forbartha Mhúscraí Teo – in partnership with SECAD, CIT’s Rubicon Centre and Udaras Na Gaetachta, have come together to offer a brand new initiative in Ballingeary to provide a platform for female entrepreneurship in the community. 

The Cumas SECAD programme is targeted at female entrepreneurs who have a business idea or those who want to develop an already existing business.  

The programme, which will be hosted in the heart of the community in Ballingeary, will be delivered over the course of six weeks part-time, two mornings a week. 

Participants will be provided with the tools they need to grow and develop their business plan including idea evaluation, business planning, market research, business funding, financial planning and also business development. 

Speaking about the development of the new programme, Ryan Howard, chief executive of SECAD said: ‘We are delighted to offer the new Cumas SECAD programme in conjunction with the Rubicon Centre who have  an extremely high success rate in the female entrepreneurship sphere, having aided hundreds of female entrepreneurs set up their own businesses and create employment. 

‘Such a programme is much needed in our more rural communities, so when we were approached by Comharchumann Forbartha Mhúscraí Teo for support, we felt that the timing and the climate was perfect,’ he said. 

‘We look forward to working together with them and the experts at The Rubicon Centre to create employment in the region and support the next tribe of female entrepreneurs in West Cork and beyond.’
