In today’s fashionable world, there is increasing pressure on the male of the species to keep up the pace when it comes to the latest style and beauty trends.

Of the aforementioned trends that have appeared over the past number of years, the beard has undoubtedly become one of the most prominent and favoured – despite claims that it would be yesterday’s news in 2017. From tidy, expertly-shaped goatees to wild, untamed masterpieces that the manliest of men would be impressed by, facial hair now comes in all forms. While this self-made accessory may be firmly in style, it is important to keep it at its best with regular cleaning and maintenance.

Style experts from the barber team at Johnny’s Chop Shop in London’s Soho give the following advice:

• Essential to having a well-groomed beard is making sure you keep it trimmed. To do this, use a trimmer; it’s important to regularly trim your beard to keep growth maintained. Using a comb or beard brush also helps train beard growth, as well as keeping hairs softer.

• It’s also important to wash your beard regularly. Not only does this keep it clean but also encourages bread growth. Use a 2-in-1 beard shampoo a few times a week, making sure to pat it dry afterwards.

• Beard oil is essential and using it on a regular basis helps to tame your beard and also conditions the beard hair. Apply a few drops of the oil to the palms of your hands and work through your beard thoroughly.

• Last but not least, don’t forget your moustache! Use a product like a pomade to style your moustache, but remember to use small amounts!

With the know-how to keep your beard in great nick, it is also important to be aware of what style of beard best suits your features and face shape.

According to website thetrendspotter.net, this is key to making your beard stand out from the crowd. Their style experts reveal that ‘if you are after something to enhance or exaggerate your jaw-bone, then a thicker, longer beard is a good option’ but, ‘if you are after a bit more definition for your face, then a shorter beard will do the trick.’

See thetrendspotter.net for a wide range of beard-related tips to have you looking more ‘on fleek’ than ever!
