Scally's SuperValu wins national award
Congratulations to Scally’s SuperValu, Clonakilty, which was among the big winners at the recent Checkout Best in Fresh Awards when it received the ‘Most creative fresh food retailer’ Award.
The annual awards, hosted by Checkout magazine, recognise retailers for their outstanding contribution to fresh food retailing across a variety of categories. Some of Ireland’s most innovative multiples, independent stores, forecourts, delis and specialist outlets competed across 20 categories for the prestigious awards.
Stephen Wynne-Jones, editor of Checkout magazine said: ‘The focus for stores may be firmly on keeping prices low, but retailers honoured at this year’s awards, understand the importance of fresh produce for their consumers. This is a real point of difference for retailers and it’s refreshing to see that retailers can still offer both great value and superb fresh food.’

In 2011 the total purchases of Irish goods and services made by SuperValu, was worth over €1.6 billion to the Irish economy, serving to both create and protect almost 30,000 Irish jobs in the farm, food and retail sector.
