SKIBBEREEN’S Enya Breen scored three tries as she helped Ireland U18 Girls’ Sevens Squad capture the UK School Games Rugby 7s crown at Loughborough University on Saturday night week last.

First year UL student Enya (18), who was representing Skibbereen Community School in this competition, was the only West Cork representation on the Irish squad and she played her part in this fantastic success. Enya – who plays her club rugby with Bantry Bay RFC – scored tries in the pool stage wins against England North and England South West, and having won four of their six pool matches, Ireland qualified for the last four.

Here, Ireland dethroned defending champions England South East (17-5) before then beating pre-tournament favourites Wales 19-10 in a cracking final under floodlights.

Last year Enya was on the Irish team that finished third overall at this tournament in England – but now she has a gold medal to show from her latest exploits.
