BANTRY band, The Calvinists, performed for the final time in their home town before Christmas.

The band played in The Mariner to mark the end of an era with their inimitable style of music.

The group experienced the tragic loss of one of their members in 2013.

Taidhg Burke, bassist with the group, was fatally injured when the car in which he was a back seat passenger struck a pole on Bridge Street in the early hours of the morning.

The 32-year-old, from Borlin near Kealkill outside Bantry, was taken  to Bantry General Hospital where he later died.

Fellow members of The Calvinists, guitarist and vocalist Noel Maguire, lead guitarist Frank Wieler and drummer Darragh Coakley continued to play and record in the intervening years.

Their new single ‘In it for the High’ was released last month.

Their penultimate performance was in Levis Bar, Ballydehob, where they went down a storm.
