ALL roads led to Coppeen last Saturday for the grand opening of the all new Barrett Agri farm shop and store.

Minister for Agriculture and the Marine, Michael Creed, TD, was on hand to cut the ribbon, with farmers, and indeed non-farmers, from far and near eager to see just what the new shop and feed store has to offer.

‘We are delighted to see and to welcome everybody to Coppeen today,’ John Barrett said as the large gathering enjoyed the music and refreshments. ‘The new farm shop and feed store is open for business and as with our father, and grandfather before us we will continue to provide our farmers and our community with the best value and service they will find anywhere in West Cork.’

Minister Creed said that he was delighted to be asked to officially open the new farm shop and praised the Barrett family for their hard work and service to the farming community. ‘The Barrett family have made Coppeen famous and I want to wish them and their staff all the best for the future,’ the Minister said.

The new farm shop carries a range of hardware as well as home supplies. ‘We have a full range of hardware from a hammer to protective workwear and so on. We are totally focused on supplying farmers with all their agricultural needs.

‘And, we carry an extensive choice when it comes to home supplies such as kettles or coals, or you can get advise on hedge trimmers or leaf blowers or lawnmower. The new shop is well stocked and ready to help,’ John continued.

There was a party atmosphere as the large crowd, estimated at up to 800 people, was treated to lots of good music and delicious refreshments as they browsed through the products on display. ‘We have to thank all our customers and our community for all the support they have shown, not just to us here now but, to the generations that have gone before us,’ said John Barrett.

‘Farming is a multi-generational business, my grandfather, my father and now myself have been dealing with the same family farms across West Cork and it is these farmers that we want to thank for all their support down through the decades. There is an unwritten trust and a bond between us and all our customers and we look forward to supplying future generations with the same service, expertise and loyalty.

‘We look forward to welcoming you all to the new shop and store in Coppeen and, if there is anything we at Barrett Agri can do for your business, we are here to do our very best,’ John concluded.
